Breakfast, check-out, and transfer to Mukawir to visit the ruins of the ancient palace of Herod Antipas, the site of the martyrdom of John the Baptist. Visit the baptism site, one of the most important recent discoveries in Middle Eastern archaeology, identifying a site on the east bank of the Jordan River, near the Dead Sea, as Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan, the place where John the Baptist lived and probably baptized Jesus Christ. Archaeologists have uncovered many sites—21 in the latest count—along Wadi Kharrar, a small valley with reeds and flowing water that stretches for 2 km from its source to the Jordan River. These discoveries—eleven Byzantine churches, five baptismal pools from the Roman and Byzantine periods, caves of monks and hermits, and shelters for pilgrims—along with numerous medieval accounts of pilgrims and travelers to the area, quickly convinced both Jordanian and international opinion of the authenticity of the site.

The significance of this sanctuary is due to the Christian belief that Christ and his mother, the Virgin Mary, spent a brief period in one of the caves of Anjara, where Christ and his disciples traveled through some of the cities of the Levant, taking the route between Nazareth and Jerusalem through the Jordan Valley, passing through Umm Qais, Tabaqat Fahl, then Anjara and Jerash, and from there to Al-Maghtas by the Jordan River, where John the Baptist (the prophet Yahya) traveled to escape from the Jews who wanted to kill him. transfer to Tel Mar Elias which is very close to the ruins of a village known as Listib. It is believed that this place was formerly Tishbe, the home of Elijah, a native of Gilead in Transjordan.
